AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/08 Report--

According to foreign media reports, Tesla has received at least five subpoenas from the US auto safety regulator since last year, demanding information about Tesla's car accident. Tesla, the electric car maker, insisted on Wednesday that its Model 3 was "the safest" in the face of a regulatory investigation.

Last September, Model 3 received a five-star safety rating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's five-star safety rating program (5-Star Safety Ratings Program).

Tesla also said that the Model 3 electric vehicle was "designed to be the safest car ever" and that of all the cars tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the occupants were the least likely to be injured in a car accident.

But regulators questioned this view last year and issued a warning letter accusing the latter of making a "misleading statement" on the safety rating of Model 3, according to documents. But Tesla disagreed with NHTSA's allegations, claiming it was based on the agency's data.

"this is not the first time Tesla has ignored NHTSA guidelines, which may mislead consumers and give Tesla an unfair market advantage over other companies," NHTSA said. NHTSA then referred the matter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), asking to investigate whether Tesla's statements constituted unfair or fraudulent practices.

Tesla talked about his response to a letter from NHTSA last October. Tesla said in his response at the time that he insisted on his security claim based on NHTSA's own data.

However, NHTSA said Tesla ignored the relative weight difference between Model 3 and other cars, making it impossible to make a relatively accurate comparison, misleading consumers.

But after Tesla explained the reasons behind the Model 3 security statement, NHTSA appeared to have chosen to drop the charges against the company.

In 2016, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigated a death involving Autopilot and criticized Tesla and Musk for not clearly describing the function of their auxiliary autopilot function Autopilot in their statement. Autopilot does not have fully autopilot without driver intervention at all, and blames the accident on Autopilot's lack of system security.

From April 2018 to March 2019, NHTSA issued at least five subpoenas related to the car accident to Tesla and asked for information about another accident, according to the documents. However, according to the documents, it is not clear whether these accidents are related to Autopilot.

In March, a Tesla driver, a Model 3, collided with a tractor trailer at a speed of 68mph, killing him. At that time, he was using Tesla's Autopilot advanced driving assistance system.

After that, the family of the car owner announced through his lawyer that he would file a lawsuit against Tesla and seek compensation of more than 15000 US dollars. Tesla's Autopilot system failed in the accident, the lawsuit alleges.

However, the accident also triggered a federal investigation into Tesla's Autopilot system, but in the end, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ended the investigation without finding any defects.

Tesla also translated the Autopilot system from "autopilot" to "autopilot" in Chinese, and asked the sales staff to strictly describe the system as a driving assistance system. In addition, Tesla has also updated the system in an attempt to make users focus when using the system.

According to Tesla's autopilot technology at present, this technology is only the transitional period of comprehensive autopilot technology, which is far from full autopilot, and there is still a big gap with people's imagination of autopilot.
