AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/09 Report--

Every year, July and August is the off-season of car sales, which is understandable and seems to be an iron rule of the automobile industry. in addition, with the switching of the five countries and six countries in June, many people in the industry believe that the early overdraft of sales has even aggravated the dismal sales in July and August this year. However, from the July sales data released by the major car companies one after another recently, many car companies have bucked the trend.

The Great Wall

A few days ago, Great Wall Motor released production and sales figures for July 2019. In July this year, Great Wall Motor sold a total of 60357 new cars, an increase of 11.09% over the same period last year. From January to July this year, the cumulative sales of Great Wall Motor reached 553895, up 5.33% from the same period last year. Among them, Harvard, WEY, Euler and Great Wall pickup trucks sold 42888, 7246, 2071 and 8075 respectively.

However, it is worth noting that compared with the same period last year, the increase in July sales of the Great Wall was mainly due to the contribution of several new models, such as the Harvard F5, Harvard F7, VV6 and Euler, while the Harvard H6, VV5, VV7 and other models all declined sharply compared with the same period last year. This also means that the "price-for-market" effect of Great Wall has also achieved remarkable results. Harvard has not only topped the list of SUV sales in China for nine consecutive years, but also became the only brand with positive growth in the head camp of its own brands in July.

Geely

According to the latest sales figures released by Geely, Geely sold a total of 91375 vehicles (including Lecks) in July, up nearly 1% from the previous month and down 24% from a year earlier. Cumulative sales from January to July still led Chinese brands, reaching 743055 vehicles, but down 16% from a year earlier.

In terms of models, all Geely models, including best-selling models, showed a double-digit year-on-year decline in the overall market. Among them, the listing of Lecker 03+ a few days ago once again set off the best part in the industry, but the current lukewarm state of the entire Lecker brand is also really worrying.

In addition, in early July, Geely cut its sales target for 2019 by 10 per cent to 1.36 million from 1.51 million. Today, Geely is strictly following the national strategy of "from high speed to high quality", and starts a big cycle of product transformation and upgrading as well as business policy adjustment.

BYD

BYD's July sales figures fell nearly 17 per cent from a year earlier to 30985 vehicles. Of these, sales of new energy vehicles were 16567, down 11.84 per cent from a year earlier and nearly 10, 000 fewer than in June, while fuel vehicle sales were 14418, down 22.16 per cent from a year earlier.

It is worth mentioning that July was the first decline in both BYD-branded fuel vehicles and new energy vehicles this year. BYD's fuel vehicles have continued to decline in recent months, and new energy vehicles are largely related to the new policy of subsidized slope reduction that began on June 25, leading to fluctuations in sales in July.

According to the previous sales statistics in July, BYD's new energy vehicles increased greatly, while fuel vehicles fell sharply. BYD sold 162220 new energy models from January to July, up 73.17 per cent from the same period last year, while fuel vehicles sold 96837 vehicles from January to July, down 42.41 per cent from the same period last year.

Mercedes Benz

According to Daimler's official sales figures for July, Mercedes-Benz delivered 188857 cars worldwide, up 12.7% from a year earlier. Among them, sales in China in July were 59435, up 13% from the same period last year, setting a record for Mercedes-Benz's cumulative sales in the first seven months of July.

Thanks to an upward trend in global markets, Europe, Asia Pacific and North America all showed high double-digit growth. In China, the core market, Mercedes-Benz delivered 59435 new cars to customers last month, a year-on-year increase of 13% and an all-time high. Among them, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLC SUV and other main models have continued a good momentum to achieve double-digit growth, especially the explosive growth of compact cars and B-class cars.

Audi

According to Audi, Audi released sales in China in July and sold 56223 new cars in July, up 6.1% from a year earlier, of which Audi Q5L delivered 13226 units in July, up 45.7% from a year earlier, and the new A6L delivered 10, 000 units. Audi's sales fell in the first half of this year, with terminal sales of 906000 vehicles, down 5 per cent from a year earlier.

It is worth noting that Audi's sales in China grew by 1.9% in the first half of this year, the only market in the world where Audi has seen growth. In the face of a decline in all aspects of data, Audi said that with the launch of new cars and the growth of deliveries, revenue in the second half of the year will be higher than that of the same period last year and will remain profitable for the whole year. Audi plans to put the Chinese market in the first place in the second half of the year. With the continuous introduction of new cars and new energy vehicles, Audi will further consolidate its position in the Chinese market.

Honda

Honda recently released sales figures in China, where it sold 115950 terminals in July, compared with 109.4% in the same period. Among them, Guangzhou Auto Honda sold 55560 vehicles in July, compared with 101.7% in the same period, while Dongfeng Honda sold 60390 vehicles in July, compared with 117.6% in the same period.

Recently, Honda was deeply affected by the ten-generation Accord "stall door" incident, in which many car owners experienced sudden stall at high speed and were forced to slow down due to lack of power. There was also a recall on Aug. 8, but not just the 10th Accord, but other Honda 1.5T models may also have the same problem, which may affect Honda's August sales.

Nissan

According to Nissan's latest sales figures, in July, Nissan and Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. sold 108343 units in its passenger car sector, which includes Dongfeng Nissan and 91108 units in Dongfeng Qichen, up 1.4 per cent and 3.2 per cent respectively from a year earlier. The light commercial vehicle sector, which includes Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. and Zhengzhou Nissan, sold 14208 units, down 5.1 per cent from a year earlier.

As a leading Japanese brand that has lasted for many years, such a market performance is actually not good. However, recently, there has been a lot of trouble at the top of Nissan's headquarters, the alliance with Renault and Mitsubishi is also shaky, the new products are not so new, and there is indeed some lack of competitiveness. As of July, Dongfeng Nissan sold more than 615000 vehicles in 2019, and it is not easy to achieve year-on-year growth in the declining car market.

Sales of type A commercial vehicles in the business sector were 123178 units from January to July, an increase of 8.9% over the same period last year. Among them, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. sold 90977 units, an increase of 13.0% over the same period last year; Zhengzhou's daily production and sales volume was 32201 units.

Ford

The wholesale sales of all products of Changan Ford's national sales and service organization reached 21086 units in July, an increase of 9.1% over the previous month. Under the background that the overall market sales in July were not as expected, Changan Ford insisted on "fixing production by sales" and promised not to press the inventory of dealers. In July, it took the initiative to issue orders to enter the car through dealers, setting a new monthly sales record this year. It is also the first time in this year that monthly wholesale data exceeded retail sales, among which the wholesale sales of the new generation focus and new Forrest models showed significant month-on-month growth for two months in a row.

Volvo

Judging from the recent July sales reports of some car companies, it can be said that the current situation of these car companies is that some people are happy and others are sad, and that joint venture brands and luxury brands can continue to maintain sales growth by virtue of their own advantages, while the current situation of domestic brands is not optimistic.
