In October last year, Tesla removed its fully autonomous driving software package (FSD) and split some of its features to create a basic Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) package, priced at 27000 yuan, which became standard on all Tesla products.

Recently, Tesla announced that its fully autonomous driving software package (FSD) is back. Some Tesla owners received such a push: "Dear Tesla users, your vehicle is equipped with an enhanced version of automatic driving assistance, and now it costs only RMB 27,800 (original price 56,000 yuan) to upgrade to full automatic driving capability."

Max said on social media that the time-limited offer would be cancelled by Aug. 16, and that the price of Tesla's fully autonomous driving software package (FSD) would rise again by $1000 from Aug. 16. Before the price adjustment, if the vehicle is equipped with a fully autonomous driving software package (FSD) at the time of purchase, the price is $6000, but if it is decided to purchase a fully autonomous driving software package (FSD) after picking up the car, it will cost $8000, which is $2000 more expensive than when the car is purchased.

At present, the option package has automatic lane change, automatic parking, automatic overtaking, automatic driving according to navigation and automatic on-and-off ramps on and off the highway, summoning to a designated location to board, etc. But Tesla has not given an exact time when the above features will be implemented.

In this regard, consumers believe that the current reality of the road can not achieve full automatic driving, and for the failed function, Tesla wants consumers to 56,000 yuan discount 27,800 yuan expensive price to recharge in advance, seems to be insincere.

Tesla's autonomous driving technology has also been questioned recently, and U.S. consumer safety organizations have recently called on federal agencies to investigate Tesla's autonomous driving technology. Speaking of the reasons why Tesla has been denounced, it also starts with the frequent car accidents of its models. In January 2016, a Tesla car rear-ended an operating road sweeper on the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway to Handan, Hebei Province, killing the driver on the spot. After the accident, Tesla admitted that the vehicle was on autopilot at the time of the accident, which was also the world's first autopilot fatal accident. In May of the same year, a Model S crashed into a truck turning on its own, killing the driver. In March 2018, a Model X in autonomous driving state crashed into an incompletely closed barrier while driving on a California highway, killing the driver when the Model X caught fire at the scene. In May, another Model 3 on autopilot crashed into a semitrailer in Florida, causing the roof to fall off and killing one driver.

There is no doubt that Tesla, as a disruptor in the automotive industry, is at the forefront of autonomous driving, but it is unclear whether consumers will pay for it at such a high price to launch a fully self-driving software package (FSD) that has not yet been fully implemented.
