Recently, the 2019 China New car quality Research (IQS) released by J.D. Power (Jundi) shows that the number of new car quality problems in China's automobile industry has significantly decreased, and the overall new car quality has improved significantly. Of the 67 car brands included in the study, 52 performed better than last year.
This year is the 20th consecutive year for J.D. Power to carry out China New car quality Research (IQS). This study focuses on the quality problems encountered by new car owners with an ownership period of 2 to 6 months. The new car quality score is expressed as the average number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The lower the score, the less the number of problems, the better the quality.
Research shows that the average new car quality score in the industry this year is 95 PP100, 10 PP100 less than last year, and an increase of 10%. Improvements were made in six of the eight research categories, with the biggest improvements being in the car interior (by 2.9PP100), sound / communication / entertainment / navigation (by 2.9PP100) and seats (2.2PP100).
The main findings of the 2019 study: although the overall quality of new cars in the industry has improved significantly, the problems that some consumers complain about have not been effectively improved: the top 20 problems that consumers complain about this year generated 51.4 PP100, up from 49.9 PP100 last year, and the performance of 12 of these problem points is lower than that of last year.
The quality of independent brands has improved significantly: although the number of problems of independent brands is the highest in all brands' countries of origin, it has made significant progress compared with itself. the number of problems has dropped from 115PP100 last year to 101PP100 this year, an improvement of 12%, and seven of the eight major problem categories have improved, and the only problem category that has deteriorated is the engine / transmission system (2.1PP100).
The gap between independent brands and international brands continues to narrow: the average quality gap between independent brands and international brands has remained at 14 PP100 in the past three years, and the gap has narrowed to 9 PP100 this year.

2019 China New car quality Research (IQS) is based on real feedback from 33468 car owners who bought cars between May 2018 and March 2019. The study covers 266 models of 67 brands, and data collection was conducted in 75 major Chinese cities between November 2018 and May 2019.
