AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/12 Report--
Lectra's sales in China have fallen, and now its plans to enter Europe have changed. In 2018, Lecker announced that the first model, the Lecker 01PHEV, would be put into production at the Ghent plant in Belgium in 2019 and be officially sold in the European market in 2020. The move also means that Lectra will become the first Chinese car brand to be produced in Europe.
However, recently, foreign media reported that Lectra has decided to suspend production plans in Europe, with Chinese factories responsible for production and export to Europe.
Wei Silan, chief executive of Lectra, said, "Volvo XC40 sales are so strong that we cannot get the extra capacity to produce Lectra in the Belgian plant. We originally planned to produce Lectra in both China and Belgium, but now we have to change this plan, but we will still carry out other plans. "
In the sales model, Wei Silan said that Lectra will no longer use the traditional dealer model in the European market, but will mainly use the online sales model to provide services to end users. It can also be understood as "car rental service", where end users can choose to pay a certain monthly rent to use Lecker products, and when end users no longer need to use them, they can return the products.
Wei Silan also said that in the future, Lectra will only launch pure electric and plug-in models in Europe.
In China, Lectra Motor is also facing difficulties. In July 2019, Lectra sold 8618 vehicles, including 01 4034, 02 1555 and 03 3029, which never exceeded 10,000. From January to July, Lectra sold a total of 64495 vehicles. By the end of June, the number of Lectra dealers had reached 260.
