Recently, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. released sales data for July. GAC GROUP produced a total of 166128 passenger cars in July, down 14.79% from the same period last year; from January to July 2019, the group produced a total of 1112782 passenger cars, down 10.21% from the same period last year. In terms of sales, GAC GROUP sold 157904 passenger cars in July, down 6.31% from the same period last year; GAC GROUP sold a total of 1156007 passenger cars from January to July 2019, down 2.27% from the same period last year.

From the perspective of GAC GROUP's sectors, Guangzhou Auto Toyota and Guangzhou Auto Honda are absolutely responsible for sales. Guangzhou Auto Toyota performed particularly strongly, selling a total of 62000 new cars in July, an increase of 21.29% over the same period last year. Cumulative sales reached 373224 from January to July, with an increase of 21.77% against the downward trend in the car market. Although Guangzhou Auto Honda's sales fell 8.6% in July from a year earlier to 51871 vehicles, its cumulative sales from January to July 2019 still rose 12.82% from a year earlier to 446379 vehicles.

Compared with the first two joint venture brands, GAC MOTOR's sales of GAC GROUP's independent version are relatively low. GAC MOTOR sold a total of 26596 new cars in July, down 35.06% from the same period last year. From January to July 2019, GAC MOTOR sold a total of 213543 new cars, down 30.93% from the same period last year. GAC MOTOR's sluggish sales are related to the decline in Chuanqi GS4, which sold only 8256 vehicles in July, down 54.2 per cent from 18026 in the same period last year. Chuanqi GS4 sold 64165 vehicles from January to July 2019, down 55.2 per cent from a year earlier.

For GAC NE, GAC NE sold 3406 vehicles in July, up 152.7% from the same period last year. From January to July 2019, the brand sold a total of 15003 new cars, an increase of 96.1% over the same period last year. At present, the production capacity of GAC NE's blockbuster Aion S Ian is climbing, and according to officials, the monthly production capacity of the car will climb to about 9000 vehicles in the next three months, when GAC NE will be confident enough to hit the sales target of 60, 000 vehicles.

At the beginning of this year, Zeng Qinghong, chairman of GAC GROUP, said that the enterprise would take new energy as the layout starting point, gradually improve infrastructure and technical facilities, formulate relevant laws and regulations, implement the promotion of hydrogen fuel, ensure the supply of spare parts, etc., improve user services, and comprehensively develop the new energy vehicle sector. From this, it is not difficult to see that new energy is undoubtedly GAC GROUP as an important means to deal with the downward market.
