Data show that Dongfeng Group sold 220900 vehicles in July, up 18.8% from a year earlier, while passenger cars also rose 20.9% to 189000 in July from a year earlier. However, Dongfeng Group sold a total of 159.53 cars from January to July this year, down 5.94% from the same period last year, while passenger cars sold 1.323 million units, down 7.8% from the same period last year. A total of 272000 commercial vehicles were sold, an increase of 4.28% over the same period last year.

Let's take a look at the specific performance of various brands of Dongfeng Group. Dongfeng Group's Japanese cars have a good performance. Dongfeng Limited's sales rose 12 per cent in July from a year earlier to 105800 vehicles, although cumulative sales remained negative from January to July, with sales of nearly 820000 vehicles.

In terms of specific car brands, Dongfeng Qichen sold 8145 vehicles in July, a year-on-year increase of 49.23%. From January to July, cumulative sales fell 20.74% compared with the same period last year. Dongfeng Nissan sold 80631 vehicles in July, up 13.45% from January to July, with a year-on-year return to positive growth. Zhengzhou Nissan became the only Japanese car company to show a decline, with sales of 3625 vehicles in July, down 29.27% from January to July, down 29.27% from January to July, down 0.55% from a year earlier. In addition, thanks to the pull of QX50, Dongfeng Infiniti also achieved year-on-year growth in the same month, with cumulative sales of 16511 vehicles from January to July, an increase of 21.24% over the same period last year.

Dongfeng Honda showed a strong growth trend, with sales of 74001 vehicles in July, a year-on-year increase of 53.3%. From January to July, the cumulative sales of 438132 vehicles, an increase of 18.56%.

French cars, in sharp contrast to Nissan, have been dragging down the overall performance of Dongfeng Group. In 2018, Dongfeng Renault fell to less than 50, 000 vehicles from 72000 in 2017, and the decline continued to expand this year, plunging 80% in May compared with the same period last year, making it the largest decline in Dongfeng Group.

In order to reverse the declining situation, Dongfeng Renault carried out a series of personnel adjustments. On July 7, with Wei Wenqing, executive vice president of Dongfeng Renault, took office, the new leadership of Dongfeng Renault basically confirmed that Hong Hao is currently vice president and minister of marketing and sales of Dongfeng Renault, and GE Shuwen is president of Dongfeng Renault. He also served as vice president of strategic coordination of Renault Group in China.

But Dongfeng Renault has not improved. From January to July this year, Dongfeng Renault sold 10300 vehicles, a sharp drop of 74% compared with the same period last year. Sales in July this year were 1360, down 42.25% from the same period last year.

Unlike Dongfeng Renault, which currently has only two domestic models, DPCA's two major brands, Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen, have a variety of products, but DPCA is not much better than Dongfeng Renault. Sales in July were 11230, down 14.85 per cent from a year earlier. Total sales from January to July were 74257, down 56.56 per cent from a year earlier.

According to Dongfeng Group's financial report, DPCA has lost 2.5 billion yuan in the first half of the year. In August, news such as factory closures and layoffs pushed DPCA into the abyss.

DPCA said that 2019 is a life-and-death battle for DPCA, and we must abandon the past and start all over again. However, due to the rout in recent years, the development of DPCA has become more difficult because of the outflow of outstanding talents, the loss of brand reputation and popularity, factory layoffs and closures, the losses of dealers, and the gradual marginalization of car brands.
