According to foreign media reports, Ford will recall 108399 2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize cars because of defective seat belt assemblies.

The recall covers Fusion manufactured at the Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan from August 1, 2015 to January 30, 2015, and Fusion models manufactured at the Hermosillo assembly plant in Mexico from August 1, 2014 to November 24, 2014. In addition, Ford recalled 2015 Lincoln MKZ models made at the Hermosillo plant from August 1, 2014 to November 21, 2014.

On Aug. 14, Ford announced that seat belt retainers may reduce the strength of seat belts when the temperature of the driver's seat and copilot rises, making it impossible for seat belts to provide normal protection to people in the car in the event of several accidents. The vast majority of vehicles affected by this defect exist in the United States market, while 4002 vehicles in Canada and 1023 vehicles in Mexico are affected.

Ford said the defect had caused an accident, but that the recall was not caused by the accident, but was based on the safety of customers' lives and property, and was constantly looking for improvements in its own shortcomings.

The dealer will solve the problem by using a coating on the seat belt pretensioner to protect the seat belt. Car owners will receive a recall notice on September 9.

Lincoln MKZ has not performed well this year, with cumulative sales of the Lincoln MKZ in the year to July, compared with 1042 in July, according to data. According to official sources, Ford Fusion will gradually stop production of the model after 2020, and some models will also be discontinued.
