It is understood that this is not the first cooperation between Infiniti and Yihi. Infiniti has reached a strategic partnership with Yihi as early as 2016. Since then, some of Infiniti's models have been used in first-tier cities and major provincial capitals. At the same time, Infiniti also provides Yihi Travel with comprehensive solutions for the life cycle of vehicles such as new car procurement and second-hand car repurchase. Both sides take what they need and develop together.
Obviously, at this time with a high travel cooperation, for Dongfeng Infiniti is undoubtedly a shot in the heart.
According to Dongfeng Infiniti, monthly sales of its QX50 reached 1606 in July, up 66% from a year earlier. From January to July, cumulative sales of Dongfeng Infiniti's two domestic models also reached 17242, up 29% from a year earlier.
This increase is still very good in the general environment of the decline of the overall car market, but it is undeniable that it is based on a low sales base, and its sales performance is not eye-catching compared with the second-tier luxury brands in the same camp. The reason is mainly due to the slow process of localization and the slow speed of product iteration.
Infiniti has been in the process of localization since 2014, but so far only Q50L and QX50 have been launched. Even these two models have not accelerated the iteration of their products. QX50, for example, has a decades-long replacement cycle, which is unusually slow in the fast-changing Chinese auto market.
In the face of such a dilemma, Infiniti is also constantly trying to find a solution.
In April last year, Infiniti set a "5in5 strategy" for the Chinese market, which aims to introduce five domestic new cars, including electric models and e-POWER hybrid models, in the next five years. The number of dealers will also expand from the current 120 to about 200.
