Honda, which has been rumored for many years, introduced the domestic Civic hatchback version to spread new news. According to a number of industry insiders, in addition to the Dongfeng Honda Civic version launched in the first half of next year, GAC Honda will also introduce Civic models, and may launch the hatchback version at the same time.

Honda insists on implementing the "two-car strategy" in China is an important condition for the realization of the above news. In the past, two of Honda's star models, the Civic and the CR-V, fell in the Dongfeng Honda Joint Venture, while the Guangzhou Automobile Honda version CR-V will be officially launched at the end of 2019, officially named "BREEZE", which also means that the Guangzhou Automobile Honda Civic version will also be possible.

A number of industry insiders have obtained internal information that GAC Honda will also launch Civic models in the future, which will be unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November at the earliest. And, there is likely to be a hatchback version, the manufacturer refused to confirm the news, but did not deny it.

As for the Civic hatchback version, Dongfeng Honda will be the first to launch. It is reported that the domestic hatchback Civic has been postponed to the second quarter of next year. Power is not expected to change much, still mainly promote the combination of 1.5T engine and CVT gearbox, is expected to launch a hybrid version.

No matter the Civic hatchback or the broad Civic version, the market voice is also higher, and there will be more choices for the target consumer. For Honda, the significance is to enrich the product line of the Chinese market, expand the sales path and improve sales performance.

From January to July 2019, GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda sold a total of 861359 vehicles, up 20.5 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, Guangzhou Auto Honda accumulated sales of 436165 vehicles, Dongfeng Honda accumulated sales of 425194 vehicles.
