Four spontaneous combustion accidents have occurred in the past two months. On June 27th this year, Xilai announced a recall of 4803 ES8 models due to safety problems in its battery design, the first recall since the delivery of the new car-building force.

Li Bin, chairman of Xilai Automobile, said in an interview with the media: "Battery spontaneous combustion is only a probability event, and the fire probability of electric vehicles is not higher than that of fuel vehicles." He Xiaopeng, chairman of Xiaopeng Automobile, also said publicly that both electric and hydrogen energy will continue to improve safety, while gasoline is the most unsafe, but everyone is used to it.

With the increase of spontaneous combustion accidents, the hidden safety problems of new energy vehicles are becoming more and more prominent. On June 17, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on the investigation of hidden dangers of new energy vehicles, requiring all automobile companies to carry out the investigation of hidden dangers of new energy vehicles and truthfully report the relevant situation, otherwise the announcements of enterprises and products will be suspended or cancelled. and from the promotion and application of new energy vehicles recommended models and other penalties.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has also given relevant measures for the investigation of fire and combustion accidents of new energy vehicles: enterprises shall bear the first responsibility for the safety of new energy vehicles, and enterprises shall promptly carry out accident investigation in the event of a fire and combustion accident. The production enterprise shall, within 12 hours (if causing death or significant social impact, within 6 hours) the basic information of the accident and the details of the accident within 48 hours. Take the initiative to report to the lead department and equipment center of the new energy vehicle work joint meeting. If there is indeed a product defect, the production enterprise shall take the initiative to file a recall with the competent department.
