On March 7, Tesla officially released the V3 (third generation) super charging system, which adopts a new charging architecture, the energy storage battery in the power cabinet can reach 1MW, and the charging line is liquid-cooled, which can support the maximum charging power of 250kW.

According to official data released by Tesla, the V3 supercharging pile can charge at a rate of more than 1000 mph (about 1609 km / h) and can recharge up to 75 mph (120 km) in five minutes.

Not only that, Tesla is also very enthusiastic about providing the battery preheating function. If you drive to the charging pile, the thermal management system of the water cycle will heat the battery pack in advance to reach the optimal charging temperature of 40 degrees. This can save about 25% of the time, which is much more convenient and faster.

It is reported that the V3 charging pile has improved the V2 version, because the V2 version will be diverted when there are many charging vehicles, and each car in the charging station is likely to reach the maximum charging power. Tesla said that compared with the V2, the V3 charging pile can save users 50% of the charging time, which only takes 15 minutes for the average user.

As can be seen from the figure, in the field measurement of the netizen @ PrivaterBOK, Model 3 uses V3 super charging pile to charge, the actual charging power can reach 245kW, and the previous high-speed charging state can be stable at 220kW, which is much higher than the current V2 version of 120kW. And in the actual measurement, the battery charge from 15% to 67% only takes 15 minutes, after the battery charge is more than 50%, the charging power is stable to 135kW, and after 67%, the charging power will drop to 91Kw.

According to the measured feedback of @ PrivaterBOK, although the charging power of 21700 battery (higher energy density) Model 3 can not be achieved under the V3 charging pile, the Model Splink X with 18650 battery can still be raised to the maximum 150kW, and the newer the battery, the greater the improvement. During the whole charging process, it was very quiet and there was no sound of battery heating or cooling at all.

In addition, the current V3 charging pile system is still just testing the firmware, it will take several months to debug the formal firmware, and the final charging speed will be more optimized.
