Typhoon Lekima made landfall in Zhejiang on Aug. 11, causing natural disasters in many places and causing heavy losses. it was also the strongest typhoon to make landfall in China since 2019, including flooding in Linhai, Taizhou City. After the typhoon, a large number of water trucks need to be disposed of, and many open spaces have become temporary parking lots for insurance companies, and water trucks and scrap trucks have been transported here.

The temporary parking lot of one of the shipyards is packed with cars, most of which are scrapped, and there are six or seven such places near the sea. The insurance company initially estimated that this time more than 10,000 scrapped vehicles were scrapped only in the coastal area due to total loss of water.

Some media inspected the scene on the spot, and nearly 4000 abandoned vehicles were parked in a temporary parking lot of a shipyard by the river, which is the largest temporary parking lot in Linhai. According to the staff of the on-site insurance company, the site was rented after consultation by various insurance companies, and since August 12, damaged vehicles have been transported here one after another.

Viewed from the air, there are numerous damaged scrap cars in the parking lot.

It is understood that after the total loss is determined, these cars will be entrusted by the insurance company to a third party for sale. At the parking site of the shipyard, two Internet companies engaged in used car auctions are conducting on-site inventory and sales. The person in charge said that the buyer must have the qualification of a repair shop or disassembly factory.

The staff of the insurance company also reminded that the vehicle involved in the water mainly caused engine damage, but as long as the insurance was not insured, no matter whether there was a second fire start or not, according to the terms of the car damage insurance, the engine loss could not be compensated.
