Only 23600 electric vehicles were sold in China in July, down 55 per cent from a year earlier and down 85.2 per cent from a month earlier, according to traffic insurance data.

There is no doubt that the continued downturn in the car market has led to a decline in sales, and the sharp drop in sales in July compared with the previous month has a lot to do with the decline in new energy subsidies and new vehicle emission standards.

The domestic electric car market can be divided into three categories: traditional car companies, new car-building forces and imported brands. According to the current sales situation, most of the domestic electric car market share is still occupied by traditional cars.

In July, BAIC New Energy, BYD and Baojun dominated the top three domestic electric vehicle sales, with sales of 4440, 3747 and 3419 respectively. Among them, Baojun's sales increased by 35.4% month-on-month, making it the only brand on the list that achieved sales growth.

There are many domestic car-building new power enterprises, but there are very few car companies with vehicles on sale, and even fewer have achieved slightly in sales. At present, the new forces of domestic car-building companies are mainly Xiaopeng, NIO and Weima. Of the three companies, NIO ranked ninth with sales of 812 vehicles in July, followed by Xiaopeng with 720 vehicles sold in July, and Weimar ranked 13th with sales of 601 vehicles.

Tesla is the main imported electric car. Tesla sold 1849 electric cars in China in July, ranking fifth. However, compared with June of the same year, Tess's sales also fell by 67.6%.

In terms of specific models, BAIC's new energy EU series won the first place with sales of 3952 vehicles in July, down 76.6 per cent from the previous month. But in the current unusually severe situation of the automobile market, the EU series can win the championship also reflects its real strength.

BYD, which caught up with BAIC New Energy, had the highest sales of electric cars in July, with sales falling 64.6 per cent month-on-month to 1915 vehicles, ranking third in pure electricity sales.

The Baojun E100 ranked second in July with 3007 vehicles, second only to the EU series, an increase of 64.7% compared with June of the same year, and was one of the few models on the list with month-on-month sales growth. The increase in sales is mainly due to the price being close to the people and the strong support of the government.

In addition, GAC AIons performance is also excellent, in July sales of 1850 vehicles, ranking fourth. GAC AionS went public in April this year, and its sales have been rising since its launch. GAC AionS can offer the NEDC battery life of 410km and 510km, and its subsidized price is 13.98-205800 yuan.

Tesla's Model 3 ranked fifth, selling 1182 vehicles in China in July, down 72.5 per cent from June. At the same time, the sales of another model, the Model X, which Tesla made the list, was 448, down 60.9% from the previous month and ranked 13th.

It is worth mentioning that Tesla, who has attracted a lot of attention in the electric car market, has been in a lot of trouble recently, including Tesla's spontaneous combustion and senior management's resignation, and then the contract with addictive quality problems was cancelled and appealed. I don't know where Tesla will go in the coming days.

In addition, the new car-building power models on the list are Xiaopeng G3, NIO ES6 and Weimar EX5, among which the Xilai ES6 has become the highest-selling model under the company.
