According to foreign media reports, Tesla will adjust the price of his car in the Chinese market this week. This is mainly a response to trade frictions between China and the United States, which could once again lead to higher tariffs on imported cars.

A sales representative and an employee of Tesla said the price increase originally scheduled for September would be implemented on Friday. A spokesman for Tesla at his US headquarters declined to comment.

Tesla is one of the automakers most affected by Sino-US trade frictions. This is mainly because Tesla has not yet made locally in China and sells cars mainly through imports from the United States, so any increase in tariffs will directly deal a blow to his performance in the Chinese market. At the same time, the exchange rate of RMB also has a certain impact on the selling price of Tesla.

In July 2018, Tesla reached an agreement with the Shanghai municipal government to build an electric car factory there. In October, Tesla successfully won 864885 square meters (a total of 1297.32 mu) of industrial land in Shanghai Lingang equipment Industrial Zone and signed a land transfer contract with the Shanghai Municipal Administration of Planning and Land and Resources. Construction officially broke ground in January and is scheduled to be completed by this summer.

Last week, the Tesla super factory in Shanghai received its first full acceptance certificate within three days of submitting its application, setting a new time record for the local government. In May, Tesla announced the opening of a reservation for the domestic Model 3 standard battery life upgrade model, with a starting price of 328000 yuan and an estimated delivery time of 6 to 10 months.

Tesla's Shanghai plant hopes to produce 3000 Model 3s a week by the end of the year, while mass production will increase next year. The Shanghai factory produces models including Model 3 and Model Y, and the vehicles will be sold only in China. Model X and Model S, as well as high-end Model 3 and Model Y will still be produced in the United States and then exported to China.

In the second quarter of this year, Tesla posted a net loss of $389 million, plus a net loss of $702 million in the first quarter, and a net loss of more than $1 billion in the first half of this year. But Tesla's sales in the Chinese market totaled $1.469 billion in the first half of this year, up 41.8 per cent from a year earlier. Tesla's sales in the United States are US $5.809 billion, making it the largest market for Tesla in the world, while the Chinese market is closely followed by Tesla as the second largest market in the world.
