AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/30 Report--

Weimar Automobile can rank among the top three in the popularity of the car-building new power company. Although there is no lightning IPO like NIO Motor, but in terms of its strong financial background and team lineup, it is not lost to NIO.

However, Weimar has been involved in a lawsuit.

It is reported today that Geely filed a lawsuit with the higher people's Court about Weima Automobile and its four subsidiaries, including Weima Automotive Technology Group, Weima Wisdom Travel Technology, Weima Automobile Manufacturing Wenzhou Company, and Weima New Energy Automobile sales Co., Ltd., with a lawsuit amount of 2.1 billion yuan, which will begin on September 16.

The figure of 2.1 billion yuan has caused a great blow to Weima, which should have just raised funds. At present, there is no public information to disclose what the so-called trade secrets point to. But in terms of the intersection of the two companies, there are still some traces to follow.

Shen Hui, founder of Weimar, worked at Geely from 2009 to 2014. He was vice president of Zhejiang Geely Holdings Group, senior vice president of Volvo Automotive and chairman of Volvo Automobile China, and was the trader of Geely's acquisition of Volvo. He then brought in many of his colleagues who worked at Geely and Volvo to form the Weimar core team.

According to statistics, at the end of 2017, Weimar had a technical and management team of more than 800 people, of which more than 70% came from the vehicle industry and 30% from the Internet. at present, it has set up five centers around the world, distributed in Germany, Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and Wenzhou.

On March 8 this year, Weimar completed a total of 3 billion yuan in round C financing, led by Baidu Group, Taihang Industrial Fund, Linear Capital and so on. Weima Motors said that the financing was mainly used for user experience and technology development. Up to now, the cumulative financing amount of Weima Automobile has reached 23 billion yuan.

Weimar also said that it will gradually implement the layout of technology research and development this year, landing the "Weima-Apollo Intelligent vehicle Joint Technology Research and Development Center" established with Baidu to open the research and development of L3 and L4 self-driving solutions.

Weimar said its mass-produced Weima EX5 will deliver 100000 vehicles in 2019, but recent sales figures show that Weima sold 8747 vehicles in the first half, well below its sales target.

Weimar has previously said that only after sales of 50,000 vehicles can it break even. From the point of view of the industry, it is very difficult for Weima to complete the delivery of 100000 vehicles this year, and it is even more distant for profit, although on July 1, Weimar has announced that it has started financing for D-round. But in the critical period was Geely a lawsuit to court, presumably Geely claims this 2.1 billion will be extremely heavy for Weimar in the future.
