Toyota Motor Corp. said there may have been a fire at its headquarters in western Japan. The company has evacuated all 1300 employees and there are no immediate reports of casualties, Bloomberg reported.

Japanese media NHK reported that 12 fire engines rushed to the scene of Toyota headquarters after smoke was reported. Toyota said the smoke incident occurred at the R & D facility, no one was injured, employees have been evacuated, and the cause of the accident has not been confirmed.

Toyota spokesman Kaneda Haruka said the company is investigating the accident and it is not clear whether it was a fire or smoke, possibly caused by a fire in the technology development department on the eighth floor.

The fire was put out at 07:10 in the afternoon and did not affect production.

Japanese media footage showed that the structure of the building where the accident occurred was not seriously damaged and most of the smoke had dissipated. The loss is expected to be small, and the relevant situation has yet to be reported by Toyota.
