BMW 8 Series versions can be divided into: 840i has two-door version, convertible version, four-door version optional, equipped with 3.0T inline six-cylinder engine; while M8 only has two-door version, equipped with 4.4T V8 engine.

BMW 8 Series Convertible is BMW's flagship sports car, while the new BMW 8 Series Convertible features a soft-top convertible design. The double-kidney air intake grille has also become larger under the brand-new design language. The air intake openings on both sides of the front bar shape of the brand-new 8 series are larger, which not only brings better heat dissipation function, but also improves aerodynamic effect.

Interior, the new generation 8 series design as a whole from the concept car style look. On the rear design, the new car adopts a unique ducktail design with slender taillights. It is worth mentioning that the new car will have a frameless door design.

In terms of power, the M850i xDrive is equipped with a 4.4T V8 gasoline engine with a maximum power and peak torque of 530 hp and 750 N·m respectively. The transmission system is matched with an 8-speed manual self-contained gearbox and equipped with an xDrive four-wheel drive system. The 840d xDrive is powered by a 3.0T L6 diesel engine. The maximum power and peak torque are 320 hp and 680 N·m respectively. The transmission system is also matched with an 8-speed automatic manual transmission.

M8 Coupe and BMW M8 Thunder Edition: The BMW M8 is based on the BMW M850i with a more exaggerated body surround, including new components with large size front air intakes, carbon fiber body components, etc. In terms of details, dark chrome front grille, carbon fiber exterior mirror housing, carbon fiber trim on side panels, high-performance brake system, 20-inch M dense spoke rim, carbon fiber roof, independent rear spoiler, carbon fiber rear diffuser, bilateral four-out sports exhaust, etc. are all features of M8 Thunder Edition.

In terms of power, BMW M8 is equipped with 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the maximum power of standard model is 600 hp, and the maximum power of Thunder model is 626 hp. The transmission system matches 8-speed manual self-contained gearbox and M xDrive four-wheel drive system with rear drive mode. The acceleration time of 0-100km/h is 3.2-3.4 seconds according to different models. The top speed of the new car is limited to 250km/h, but with the M Driver package, the top speed can be unlocked to 306km/h.

It has been 20 years since BMW announced the discontinuation of the first generation 8 Series in 1999, and now the new generation 8 Series family has completed a strong return.
