AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/07 Report--
Geely released sales figures for August 2019. Affected by the overall depressed environment of the car market, sales fell again after July. Data show that Geely sold a total of 101223 vehicles (including Lecker) in August, down about 19% from a year earlier. Of these, 3208 were exported overseas, up 26% from the same period last year; the Geely brand sold a total of 7897 vehicles.
From January to August, Geely sold a total of 844278 vehicles, down about 17% from the same period last year. It is worth mentioning that from January to August, Geely's cumulative sales of new energy and electrified models reached 69973, an increase of 110% over the same period last year.
Throughout 2019, Geely showed only a small increase in March and declined in the rest of the month, including a 27 per cent decline in May, a 29 per cent decline in June and a 24 per cent decline in July. It is mainly caused by policy emission conversion and sales overdraft in advance. Although sales fell in August from a year earlier, the decline has narrowed to 19%.
In the face of a downturn in the car market and a decline in sales, Geely also cut its full-year sales target by 10 per cent to 1.36 million from 1.51 million, while issuing a sales warning that it was expected to be down 40 per cent from 6.67 billion yuan in revenue for the same period last year.
Geely has achieved 62 per cent of its annual target of 1.36 million vehicles in 2019. However, according to the current sales trend, it will be difficult for Geely to meet the revised target.
Of course, Geely, as the sales leader of China's independent brands, has monthly sales of more than 100000, and its overall independent brand strength is also commendable, with monthly sales approaching that of many popular joint venture brands.
In terms of specific model sales, Geely achieved sales of more than 10,000 vehicles in only three models in August, namely, 18200 Boyue, 15700 New Dihao, and 11000 Qiyue. In addition, sales of Xingyue, a newer model, still did not grow much in August, with sales of just 3111 vehicles. Jiaji, Geely's first MPV model, sold just 2529 vehicles in August, down 26.8 per cent from July.
Like the Dihao family, the vision family has not performed well this year, selling a total of 19638 vehicles in August, compared with a cumulative sales of 169967 from January to August. Of this total, prospective sales were 6467, down 44.4% from the same period last year, while Vision SUV fell sharply, by 62.3% to 3784. By contrast, the Vision X3 still performed well, selling a total of 7033 vehicles.
In the cold spell of the car market, the initial scenery of LinkedIn is gradually fading. According to the data, Lectra sold a total of 10982 vehicles in August, of which LEC 01 was 4134, LEC 02 was 1750 and LEC 03 was 5098.
In terms of new energy, Geely sold 7897 new energy and electric vehicles in August; Dihao EV, Ka Ji MHEV, Xingyue MHEV and Geometry An accounted for about 73 per cent of total new energy and electric vehicle sales. From January to August, Geely's total sales of new energy products reached 69973.
Although Geely's sales again exceeded 100000 in August, its overall sales are still in a state of decline. In addition to Boyue, LaCrosse and Dihao perform well, other models do not play a good supporting role. At present, Geely still has a lot of difficulty in achieving this year's sales target.
