According to the vehicle series, the German brand in the second half of the year has become the hardest hit area for vehicle recall. Of the 34 recall announcements in the second half of the year, 13 were German cars, involving 483,600 defective vehicles, accounting for 28.70% of the total number of recalls in the second half of the year. Among them, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz accounted for 90%, Volkswagen recalled 144,900 vehicles, accounting for 29.96%, Mercedes-Benz recalled 281,000 vehicles, accounting for 58.10%.

According to the model, Beijing Hyundai recalled the Tusheng cars produced between August 17,2015 and September 18,2018, which was the largest number recalled in the second half of the year, with a total of 400377 vehicles recalled.

The model was recalled as early as October 2018 due to airbag problems. The reason for the recall is that when the vehicle is driven in a low temperature environment, the engine oil level will rise, and to some extent, the engine fault indicator light may be illuminated, which may cause engine damage if it continues to operate.

In addition, the Takata airbag problem is also a major cause of the recall, although Takata went bankrupt in June 2017, but the airbag problem has been "haunted".

Affected by Takata airbag, China has implemented five vehicle recalls in the second half of the year, with 294,400 designed vehicles, mainly Mercedes-Benz and Honda, recalling 199,600 and 94,800 vehicles respectively.

In the first half of the year, 674,200 vehicles were recalled due to the "Takata airbag" problem, involving BMW, Toyota, Tesla, Subaru, Ferrari and other car companies, with a cumulative recall of more than 960,000 vehicles.

In addition, there have been three cases of new energy recalls caused by battery problems this year.

On June 27, NIO Automobile recalled 4803 ES8 electric vehicles due to improper orientation of voltage sampling harness in power battery pack module;

On July 4, Nanjing Jinlong Bus recalled 25 NJL6118 pure electric city buses due to consistency problems of high-voltage power battery cells.

On July 13, BAIC New Energy issued a recall of 1389 Weiwang 407EV due to accidental production control problems of power batteries, resulting in heating during use and, in extreme cases, fire;

According to data from the State Administration of Market Supervision, more than 40 new energy vehicle fires have occurred in 2018, recalling 121,400 defective vehicles involving 33 models, mainly due to electrical control, mechanical, electrical and battery system failures. Since the beginning of this year, new energy vehicle fires are still frequent.

In this regard, on June 17, the Equipment Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the Notice on Carrying out the Investigation of Potential Safety Hazards of New Energy Vehicles, requiring all new energy vehicle manufacturers to complete the investigation of potential safety hazards of new energy vehicles before the end of October 2019, form a written report, and truthfully submit the organization, implementation, cooperation of operation entities, existing problems and problem handling to the Equipment Center.

According to the Notice, the Equipment Center will continue to pay attention to safety accidents such as fire and combustion of new energy vehicles jointly with relevant units, and set up an accident investigation team jointly with relevant units according to the severity of the accident to carry out accident investigation work, and report the accident investigation results to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for handling.
