Maiteng's score was lower than that of the Japanese Camry and Accord of the same level.

The models used by PICC Research CIASI in the collision test are the lowest configuration, and the collision standard is basically copied from IIHS, the American Highway Safety Insurance Association. Volkswagen Maiteng seriously lost points in the 25% offset collision test on the front, and seriously collapsed after colliding with an undeformable rigid barrier at a speed of about 64km/h, resulting in further intrusion into the interior space of the car, posing a threat to drivers. Generally speaking, the A column and the cockpit should not be deformed after the front 25% offset collision, while the Volkswagen Maiteng A column is more seriously deformed. There are two torn openings under and near the B column, and there are also bends above the A column. It means that the front part of the car can not well absorb all the impact of the collision, the strength is not enough basic failure, and finally the firewall part invades into the crew cabin, coupled with no knee airbag protection, the test dummy knee is bound to be squeezed.

In the end, Maiteng could not fully meet the positive 25% offset collision test and won the M (general) evaluation.

In addition, Maiteng also lost points in side impact and seat / headrest events, which can only be a good score in terms of occupant safety. It is worth noting that Volkswagen's Touguan L score is also very average.

Compared with other models of the same class, the performance of Maiteng crash is not excellent.
