Geely officially released a short sci-fi movie video on Sept. 11, in which it revealed a preview of the new SUV (internal code name SX12) model, which was officially named "icon". As a mass production model of the concept car "CONCEPT ICON", "icon" highly restores the design language of the concept car and integrates the latest design elements, which will represent the design direction of Geely SUV in the future.

According to officials, Geely named the new SUV "icon" and intended to pay tribute to the idol of the times and explore a new generation of cars in the future. At the same time, "icon" also intends to break the current "homogenization" and "follow the trend" car building trend, lead the global car ahead of the future, redefine SUV and human and car life, and enjoy the future in advance of the present.

It is understood that Geely icon first appeared at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, based on the BMA platform. As it is an electric SUV when, positioning compact SUV, the new car length, width and height are 4350/1810/1615mm, wheelbase is 2640mm, will be officially launched at the end of this year.

BMA, known as B-segmentModularArchitecture, is the basic modular architecture built by Geely after four years, which can be combined freely by power module, electrical module, chassis module and body module, but its positioning is lower than that of the CMA architecture jointly developed by Geely and Volvo. It is suitable for the development of A0 to A+ models and supports different forms of fuel, pure electricity and hybrid power. Its first model was codenamed SX11, which went on sale at the end of last year. From the code name, icon is the second model under the BMA platform.

For this new SUV model, from the trailer chart released, Geely icon borrows the design language of Geely CONCEPT ICON concept car, the front face inherits Geely's iconic water drop ripple grille, and gives a new design understanding to reinterpret, and integrates rounded rectangular elements. In addition, in the front, sides and tail of the model to create a simple and strong impression, and the rear light design, inspired by the time hourglass, the overall shape looks fashionable and full of sense of the future.

One of the most unique selling points of Geely icon is that it has the same door-opening design as Rolls-Royce, which is very attractive to young people. The interior is also full of scientific and technological sense, replaced with a new style, the large-size central control screen is almost covered with the entire central control area, the air conditioning outlet is located at the bottom of the screen; in addition, the new car is also equipped with a three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel, electronic handbrake and so on.

In terms of power, Geely icon or equipped with 1.5T three-cylinder engine + 48V light mixing system, maximum power 177Ps, peak torque 255N ·m, transmission or matching 7-speed DCT gearbox. It is understood that the car will also launch hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

At present, the information about the new car is very limited and needs to be further confirmed by officials, but it is certain that the appearance and interior of the car will become the latest design language of the Geely family SUV, and the car may become the most concerned model in the second half of the year. As another blockbuster model in the Geely car layout SUV market, Geely "icon" is expected to lead the design trend and become the new "ICON".
