AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/12 Report--

According to foreign media reports, under pressure from the US federal government, GM announced a recall of 3.46 million pick-up trucks and SUV in the United States, covering the 2014-2018 models, including Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Sliverado, Chevrolet Tanoe, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon models. The reason for the recall is that the vacuum produced by the vacuum pump may decrease over time, resulting in longer brakes and increased collision risk.

It is understood that the problem has led to 113 traffic accidents, resulting in a total of 13 injuries, and earlier this year, the company recalled 310000 cars in Canada for the same problem.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating the problem since last year after it received 111 complaints about poor braking performance. At that time, the bureau received reports of nine crashes in which two people were injured.

The recall comes 10 months after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched an investigation. Asked why it took so long to decide on the recall, Flores said only that GM had been cooperating with the agency's investigation and provided it with relevant data.

GM's recall announcement did not provide exact data on how many injuries and crashes were related to defective vacuum pumps, but said the braking problem could occur with little probability and could affect brakes.

GM spokesman Dan Flores said GM will not replace the vacuum pump for the recall because there is little chance of failure, but will improve braking problems by recalibrating electronic brake control modules.

Flores said that while the recall involved a large number of vehicles, the cost would not be high enough to have a significant impact on GM's earnings, forcing the company to report the incident to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). As for the exact cost, it is not yet known.

It is understood that GM's brands sold in the United States are Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC, among which Chevrolet and GMC have the best pickup sales. GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Coolrod both use the same V6 engine, which is king in the United States, where sales reached 280000 in August.
