Unexpectedly, eight years later, China's auto market has made great progress, but there has been a downward trend. According to the recent car sales data released by the National passenger car Market Information Association, retail sales of narrow passenger cars in China in August were 1.564 million, down 9.9% from the same period last year, the 13th consecutive month of decline. From January to August, the cumulative decline in sales of narrow passenger cars nationwide reached 8.9%.

In the face of the malaise of the car market, manufacturers and local governments have thought of ways, but most of them can only promote long-term development, can not immediately revive the car market, so some areas began to try to abolish the purchase restrictions.

The abolition of purchase restrictions has proved to be effective in stimulating consumers' short-term purchasing power. In Guiyang, for example, it is estimated that total sales of minibuses in Guiyang this year are expected to reach a record 220000, an increase of 8.0 per cent over the same period last year.

In addition, as Guiyang is not a first-tier city, it caused a lot of controversy in the industry after the purchase restriction policy was put forward at that time. Compared with 4.76 million motor vehicles in Beijing, the number of motor vehicles in Guiyang was only 616000 by the end of 2018.
