AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/12 Report--
This year, the incident of female car owners climbing up the engine cover and safeguarding their rights in Xi'an caused a great impact on the Internet. In the past two days, the Beijing Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau announced that Mercedes-Benz Auto Finance Co., Ltd. was fined a total of 800000 yuan by the Beijing Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau on Sept. 2 because of "serious deficiencies in the management of outsourcing activities."
Mercedes-Benz Auto Finance Co., Ltd. was established on September 21, 2005 with a registered capital of 6.98275862 billion yuan. The company's major shareholder is Daimler AG, with a shareholding ratio of 52.2%, and the second shareholder is Daimler Greater China Investment Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, with a shareholding ratio of 47.8%.
In April this year, a female car owner sat on the hood of her car at the Xi'an Star Mercedes-Benz 4S store where she bought her car, crying about her rights because of an oil leak in the engine, which caused strong public concern on the Internet. At the same time, the female car owner claimed that the 4S store had charged an extra 15200 yuan "financial service fee" without her knowledge.
After the incident, the China Consumer Association responded to the incident of protecting the rights of female Mercedes-Benz owners. The China Consumer Association said that auto financial service fees should be clearly priced, will focus on the issue of automobile consumption, and promote the improvement of relevant legislation.
The China Consumer Association said: if operators illegally collect financial service fees, in accordance with the measures for the Administration of Automobile sales: dealers shall clearly state the prices and service charges for selling cars, accessories and other related products in appropriate forms at the business premises, and shall not increase the price or charge additional fees in addition to the marked price. In case of violation of this regulation, the local commerce department at or above the county level shall order it to correct, and may give a warning or a fine of not more than 30,000 yuan.
On May 23, two weeks after the interview, Mercedes-Benz sales Services, Mercedes-Benz Financial and Mercedes-Benz dealers jointly launched the Service Convention, saying that they were conducting self-inspection and verification of financial service charges on the dealer network. Among them, Mercedes-Benz Financial Company said that dealers have been asked not to charge fees in the name of Mercedes-Benz Financial Company or on the grounds of providing Mercedes-Benz Financial Services for customers.
On May 27, the market supervision department of Xi'an High-tech Zone reported the results of the investigation and handling of suspected illegal cases. Xi'an Star Automobile Co., Ltd. was fined a total of 1 million yuan for two illegal acts of selling commodities that did not meet the requirements of ensuring personal and property safety, exaggerating or concealing information that had a major interest with consumers and misleading consumers.
From January to August this year, Mercedes-Benz (including the smart brand) sold a total of 464000 cars, an increase of 4.1% over the same period last year, surpassing BMW and Audi to become the best-selling luxury brands in the country. Although Mercedes-Benz has made a promise of "no bundling sales, forced consumption" and has been given administrative penalties, it will take time to see whether Mercedes-Benz can do what it says.
