According to the data of China Automobile Association, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in August were 87,000 and 85,000 respectively, down 12.1% and 15.8% respectively from the same period last year. This year, the cumulative production and sales volume of automobiles reached 1.991 million and 1.958 million respectively, down 0.5% and 6.9% year-on-year; the sales volume has been less than 2 million, which is at the lowest point over the years.
According to the data of China Automobile Association, in August this year, the year-on-year decline in automobile output narrowed, the year-on-year decline in sales expanded, and the pressure faced by the industry still failed to be effectively relieved; comprehensive January-August data, the decline in production and sales was further narrowed compared with the previous seven months. Sales of new energy passenger cars and commercial vehicles have fallen sharply.
Specifically, plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles, pure electric commercial vehicles and plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles all showed year-on-year negative growth to varying degrees, while only pure electric passenger vehicles realized month-on-month and year-on-year positive growth. The wholesale growth rate of pure electric passenger vehicles increased by 0% year-on-year and 17% month-on-month; plug-in hybrid vehicles decreased by 46% year-on-year and 17% month-on-month.
According to Xu Haidong, assistant secretary-general of the China Automobile Association, after the subsidy policy declined, many manufacturers faced losses, so they no longer actively launched new cars. In addition, before the policy slope, consumers rush to buy new energy vehicles, which also causes a certain sales overdraft, which is not conducive to the development of new energy vehicles.
However, in August, automobile production and sales entered the recovery stage, which is in line with the development law over the years. However, it should also be noted that the automobile market has not retreated due to the overdraft of the promotion of the five models of the country. According to a number of car companies released in August new energy sales data show that there are different degrees of the situation.
BYD sold 16719 new energy vehicles in August, down 23.44% year-on-year. Obviously, after BYD's sales of new energy vehicles declined in July, its new energy vehicles showed a year-on-year decline again in August.
Beiqi Blue Valley sold 10,700 new energy vehicles in August, up 12.8% year-on-year; from January to August, the sales volume of new energy vehicles was 88,300, up 26.03% year-on-year.
Geely Automobile sold 7897 new energy vehicles in August, with a year-on-year growth of 110%. The cumulative sales volume from January to August reached 69973 vehicles.
The sales volume of pure electric passenger cars of Jianghuai Automobile in August was 3109, a year-on-year decrease of 46.4%; the cumulative sales volume of this year was 43912, an increase of 41.56% year-on-year.
In addition, among the top ten new energy vehicles in China, only Beiqi and Baojun, the new energy vehicles owned by independent brands, increased, while the rest declined to a large extent.
According to the data of new energy in August, the overall production and sales of the industry have changed sharply. In August, new energy passenger vehicles began to grow month-on-month, but the growth rate is not obvious. As far as the whole industry is concerned, the pressure faced by the industry has not been effectively relieved.
Shi Jianhua, deputy secretary-general of the China Automobile Association, believes that the existing purchase restriction policy is a "lazy government" behavior, so it is necessary to cancel the purchase restriction. However, there is no need for the state to stimulate the automobile market with fiscal policy, but the market needs to actively adjust. Enterprises with technology accumulation and strong brand power will become better, and some weak enterprises will be eliminated.
