AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/14 Report--

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched a preliminary investigation into 553000 Nissan Rogue vehicles, Reuters reported.

It has been reported that the automatic emergency system of Nissan's Rogue sport utility vehicle starts abnormally in the absence of warnings or obstacles.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says there are 129 reports that the system has been triggered incorrectly, and five people have been injured by Nissan's automatic emergency braking system starting incorrectly.

Us regulators investigated more than 553000 models in 2017 and 2018. In addition to investigating the cause of the wrong start of the automatic braking system, US regulators will also investigate whether Nissan handled the problem properly.

In February, Nissan recalled 75358 Rogue and Qashqai cars in Canada, warning that metal structures could cause automatic emergency braking systems to start unnecessarily and notifying owners of software upgrades.

Nissan said it had received 750 complaints about abnormal start-up of the automatic emergency braking system and 12 reports of related crashes, and that the company had conducted a wide-ranging internal investigation into the problem and, on the basis of consultation with relevant departments, initiate action to notify affected customers.

In 2016, 20 car companies, including Nissan, reached an agreement with the National Highway Traffic Administration to install standard anti-collision braking system equipment for all light vehicles by 2022, which account for 99% of U.S. car sales.

Nissan is facing a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in California over unexpected brakes on cars sold by Nissan and Infiniti since 2015. The lawsuit alleges that the defect triggers the brakes, causing the vehicle to "slow down suddenly or stop completely while driving".
