For the Frankfurt Motor Show unusually "desolate" situation, former Opel CEO Karl. Thomas Neumann is more pessimistic about the matter, believing that Frankfurt is likely to be unsustainable in the future as the situation develops this year.

He said that the solitude of this year's auto show is a mirror that reflects many of the problems in the European car market. He even predicts that the Frankfurt Motor Show may not be on display in 2021 and may only be held every two years in the future.

Some people in the industry say that it is unfair to compare the situation in 2017 with that of this year.
