On March 1, 2018, Shanghai took the lead in releasing the intelligent network connection automobile open test road, and issued the first batch of intelligent network connection automobile open road test license to SAIC, BMW and other automobile companies.

The conference announced that the third batch of intelligent network-connected automobile open test roads will pay more attention to the richness and diversification of the test application scenarios on the basis of greatly extending the mileage. On the basis of the original 11.1km, 42.5km was added, with a length of 53.6km, covering an area of 65 square kilometers, involving different types and grades of roads, and the number of test scenarios increased from 350to 1580. The scope of intelligent network-connected vehicles will be extended to all scenes of life, industrial areas, business areas, transportation hubs, residential areas and so on.

At present, Shanghai has promoted 11 companies, including SAIC, BMW, Tucson, early Speed, Huawei, Xiandu Intelligence, SAIC-Volkswagen and SAIC cars, to obtain 26 open road test licenses.

At the meeting, it was also introduced that the automobile companies also carried out sustainable innovation and technological upgrading and optimization. Among them, SAIC has optimized the vehicle sensor fusion technology, decision-making algorithm, and vehicle comfort, and the coverage of BMW's high-precision positioning has been increased from 80% to 98%. The following time distance, maximum speed, lane change control accuracy and so on have been improved.
