In August 2019, China's new power sold only 5091 cars, accounting for 0.4 per cent of domestic passenger car sales that month, according to traffic insurance data. However, due to the formal implementation of the 2019 new energy subsidy policy in July, the number of vehicles plunged to 2375 that month, far less than usual, but sales of Chinese car-building new forces rose 114 per cent in August from the previous month.

In terms of specific model sales, Weimar EX5 ranked first with monthly sales of 2175 vehicles, while Xiaopeng G3 sales fell sharply, with only 231 vehicles sold in August.

Although Weimar is involved in a dispute over Geely's infringement of trade secrets, sales have not been affected. Weima EX5 sold 2175 vehicles in August, accounting for 42.7 of the market, up from 25.3 in July, the best so far this year. In addition, Weimar EX5 accumulated sales of 11324 vehicles in the first eight months, becoming the first car-building new power to sell more than 10,000 models this year.

While the second-ranked ES6 can be said to be more stable than ES8 since its launch, or showing an upward trend, rising to 1808 vehicles in August, also setting its best results. The market share also rose from 27.7% to 35.5% in August. Lulai ES8, on the other hand, performed less well under the same brand, with a slight increase in sales, ranking fifth with 182 vehicles, down to 3.6 from 6. 4 in July.

Xiaopeng, as the "Big three" of the new power, saw its sales plummet in August, falling from first to fourth place last month, and its market share fell from 30.3% to 4.5, with only 231 vehicles sold in August. even compared with the first two, Xiaopeng seems to have fallen behind as one of the "Big three" of the new forces in car building.

Some industry insiders said that the sharp drop in sales of Xiaopeng in August was related to the imminent launch of the G3520. Due to the lack of enough sincere care measures for old users, incidents of safeguarding the rights of owners of the old Xiaopeng G3 have appeared one after another across the country since July this year. It has an impact on G3 sales.

The N01, which ranks second in line, sold just 440 vehicles in August, but it also showed a trend of growth in July, rising to 23rd place from 9th in July and surpassing Xiaopeng G3.

As for other new power models, the sales volume is no more than 100. With the exception of the zero run S01, which grew by more than 50% in August to 166 vehicles, other models showed different slight upward and downward trends.

Generally speaking, the volume of the new power of car building is still small, and its development appears to be stable. After the transition of the formal implementation of the new policy in July, car-building new power sales returned to normal levels in August, but it is harder to prove who can make it to the end through the policy refund.
