In the early stage of the development of new energy vehicles, many enterprises explored the power exchange mode, but due to cost, safety and other reasons, they finally had to put the plan on hold, and only a few enterprises still insisted on it. the power exchange model was once considered to be difficult to promote in the field of new energy vehicles.

However, with the decline of the new energy subsidy policy, the development of new energy vehicles has entered a new stage, and the power exchange mode seems to have been brought up again.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Ministry of Commerce clearly pointed out in the "implementation Plan for promoting the Renewal and upgrading of key Consumer goods and the Recycling of Resources (2019-2020)" to promote car-electricity separation consumption methods such as battery leasing of new energy vehicles, so as to reduce the cost of car purchase.

In fact, the mode of vehicle-electricity separation and power exchange is not new. In the infrastructure of new energy vehicle replenishment, there are two technical routes: power exchange and charging.

The so-called car-electricity separation mode means that the car and electricity are two completely independent parts. When the vehicle has no electricity, the owner can go to the power station and replace a fully charged battery. The vehicle-electricity separation mode can not only solve the long charging time, alleviate the mileage anxiety, but also effectively reduce the cost.

As early as 2007, the Israeli electric car manufacturer Better Place began to explore the power exchange mode, and once became a hot topic in the electric car industry. Its main business is the power exchange mode, and the car owner can complete the power exchange business within three minutes through the manipulator when entering the Better Place power station.

Unfortunately, the power exchange mode of Better Place was not successful and finally had to stop operation. The main reason for the failure is that the cost of replacing the power station is too high, but the development is very slow, the number of users is small, the income can not make ends meet, and can only leave bleak.

Due to various reasons, the policy and the market do not choose the power exchange mode, but in spite of this, in the process of the development of new energy vehicles, there are still enterprises that insist on exploring the power exchange mode, such as BAIC, Ulay Motor and Bertan Technology.

Now, the NDRC and other three departments have emphasized the separation mode of car and electricity twice in three months, and the power exchange mode, which has been left out in the cold, seems to be gradually popular with capital.

It is worth mentioning that the new energy subsidy policy is gradually declining and is expected to be completely abolished by 2020, which also provides a new opportunity for the development of power exchange mode.

This is because the high proportion of power batteries in vehicle costs has always been one of the painful points for the consumption of new energy vehicles. 40% of the costs of new energy vehicles are concentrated on power batteries, which makes the cost of pure electric vehicles of the same class about 30% higher than that of fuel vehicles. with the implementation of the new subsidy policy, this pain point has been magnified.

In the vehicle-electricity separation mode, the initial purchase cost of electric vehicles can be reduced, with the decline of the subsidy policy, this model will also have a more competitive advantage.

The power-changing mode is like the current gas station, where users do not have to wait for charging or look around for suitable charging stakes. At the same time, this mode can also help unload the grid to some extent, or even coordinate the reduction of electricity prices.

In terms of the promotion of new energy vehicles, Hainan Province is absolutely in the forefront of the domestic provinces. At a time when other provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country have not yet set a timetable for banning the sale of fuel vehicles, Hainan Province took the lead in March this year to completely ban the sale of fuel vehicles in the province by 2030.

According to media reports, Xu Tao, deputy director of the equipment Industry and Technology Department of the Hainan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said a few days ago when introducing the development road map of Hainan new energy vehicles that while Hainan Province is making every effort to promote the related supporting construction of new energy vehicles, it is also studying and introducing a time-of-use electricity price scheme for the charging of new energy vehicles, and is expected to carry out pilot projects for the separation mode of new energy vehicles.

At present, vehicle companies such as NIO and BAIC New Energy have begun to explore and try in this area, and in Hainan Province, where the development of new energy vehicles is the strongest, this model is likely to usher in further development.
