SAIC has released its latest production and sales figures, according to which SAIC-Volkswagen sold 151000 vehicles in August, down 3.2 per cent from a year earlier to 1215206 from January to August, down 8.5 per cent from a year earlier.

SAIC Volkswagen's sales include Volkswagen brand and Skoda brand sales, of which the Volkswagen brand sold 127500 vehicles in August, up 0.2 per cent from a year earlier, with cumulative sales of 1053996 vehicles from January to August, down 4.7 per cent from a year earlier. Skoda brand sold 23500 vehicles in August, down 18.4% from a year earlier. The cumulative sales from January to August were 161210, down 27.6% from a year earlier.

In terms of specific models, many models under the SAIC Volkswagen brand have a good market performance, of which Lang Yi's August sales reached 37460, continuing to top the domestic car sales list, with cumulative sales of more than 290000 in the previous eight months. Passat overtook Honda Accord in class B car sales with 22086 vehicles, with a total of 123370 new cars sold from January to August.

In terms of SUV products, Volkswagen currently has Tuang, Tueng X, Tuguan L plug-in, Tuyue, Tujia and other models, covering the official market, which can be called the "first family" of the joint venture SUV. Among them, Tuguan L ranked first in the joint venture SUV with sales of 167411 vehicles from January to August, ahead of Honda CR-V, Japan Qijun and other models. The compact SUV Tuyue has achieved tens of thousands of monthly sales, while the small SUV T-Cross has achieved sales of nearly 30, 000 vehicles in just four months, becoming a thorn in the side of Honda's XR-V, colorful Intelligence and other models. The two models provide a guarantee for Volkswagen's sales recovery.

The Skoda brand is a bit cool. at present, SAIC Skoda's main selling models include Mingrui, Express, Komick, Kolok, Kodiak and Kodiak GT. According to the popularity of the market segment, the four products of Mingrui, Express, Krook and Kodiak are in the hottest A-class, B-class car and SUV market. However, in contrast to these inherent advantages, each of Skoda's current best-selling models is somewhat acclaimed.

Take Kodiak as an example. From January to July this year, Kodiak sold 21626 vehicles, down nearly 30% from 30725 in the same period in 2018. Cormick's monthly sales will rise from 7,000 to 5,000. Klock has maintained sales of 2,000 vehicles, far below its competitors such as Nissan Xiaoke and Volkswagen Tanguo. In addition, sales of two entry-level cars, Xin Rui and Xin Tou, also declined.
