Porsche had officially announced that the pre-production pure electric Taycan had a time of 7 minutes and 42 seconds on the Nurburgring North Ring track, which some media said was the fastest record for a four-door electric car. It is worth noting that Tesla's Model S stationed at the Nurburgring is no ordinary version. in addition to retrofitting exterior components such as forward vents, rims, tires and rear spoiler, it is also equipped with a new Plaid powertrain and three-motor configuration, as well as Goodyear's flagship tire Eagle F1 SuperSport RS, all in order to optimize the aerodynamic layout and enhance its track performance.

According to the manual timing results of a media reporter at the scene, the Model S P100D+ with the new Plaid powertrain has a lap time of 7 minutes and 23 seconds.

Although there are some errors between manual timing and non-professional timing, even so, the Model S is still nearly 20 seconds faster than Porsche Taycan's 7 minutes 42 seconds. This result proves once again that electric vehicles are not inferior to gasoline and diesel-powered cars in any index.

Tesla's Model S prototype not only breaks the record set by Taycan, it will even rival models such as Enzo Ferrari and Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, both of which complete the Nurburgring in about 7 minutes and 24 seconds.

However, Tesla does not release any official track time because he belongs to the industry Pool test team. Musk said on Twitter that this is just the beginning and Tesla will bring better products.

According to Musk, the Plaid Model S will go on sale later next year, with seven seats in the top five and two after the configuration, which is, of course, slightly higher than the regular Model S, but cheaper than competitors, which is expected to be produced around October and November next year.

In addition, after the launch of Model S Plaid, Tesla will also update the Model X model and the much-anticipated Roadster model. Musk said that in terms of speed, the Roadster will "no doubt" break the Nurburgring record of 44.97.
