South Korean battery maker SK Innovation (SK lnnovation,SKI) is about to become the battery supplier of Ferrari's first mass-produced SF90 Stradale electric vehicle, foreign media reported. The company also works with Daimler Group and Germany's Volkswagen Group. In 2017, Daimler announced that SK Innovation would become its battery supplier. Then, in November 2018, Volkswagen Group also announced that it had selected South Korean battery manufacturer SK Innovation (SK lnnovation,SKI) to supply batteries for its electric vehicles based on modular power tool kit (MEB) platform. In October 2018, Hyundai also signed a statement with SK to build charging stations in South Korea to expand the charging network for electric vehicles.

According to industry sources, this time SK is responsible for the battery supply of Ferrari's electric vehicles, which means that the battery maker of Ferrari's first mass-produced plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHVE) SF90 Stradale is SK innovation. After Ferrari evaluated and inspected the batteries of several battery manufacturers for more than two years, it finally chose South Korean battery manufacturer SK Innovation.

The name of the new plug-in hybrid Ferrari SF90 Stradale is a tribute to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Ferrari-Scuderia Ferrari. It is also the pioneer model that has opened the new journey of electrification of the Ferrari brand. The battery capacity developed by the SK innovation is 7.9kWh and the power is 162kW. This model offers a total of four driving modes, of which in the "eDrive" pure electric mode, when the internal combustion engine is turned off, the vehicle can continue to drive for 25 kilometers.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale has three bright spots. It is not only the strongest V8 supercar in Ferrari, but also Ferrari's first hybrid supercar, which accelerates in only 2.7s at 100km. For fans familiar with Ferrari, it is easy to see that the design of the new SF90 Stradale clearly borrows from the Ferrari F8 Tributo. There is some innovation in the salute classic.

With the increase in global electric vehicle orders, SK also plans to invest 579.9 billion won (3.442 billion yuan) in a new battery factory in China to ensure 60 billion watt-hour battery capacity by 2022.
