Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory is Tesla's first manufacturing plant in China and the first electric car factory wholly owned by a foreign carmaker, which Tesla took less than a year to build.

In July 2018, Tesla reached an agreement with the Shanghai municipal government for the first time to build a Tesla super factory with R & D, manufacturing, sales and other functions, with an estimated annual production capacity of 500000 vehicles.

In January this year, the first phase of Tesla Shanghai Super Factory officially started; in June, Tesla was already building a substation for the new factory, and it is understood that the power station will be officially completed in September.

At the same time, Tesla Shanghai Super Factory has received the first comprehensive acceptance certificate. Shanghai Lingang Construction Project Management Service Center organized planning, construction, fire control, archives and other professional acceptance departments to check and verify Tesla Shanghai Super Factory, and once again unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance.

In addition, Tesla did not comment on other media reports that Tesla's Shanghai super factory had completed construction in a very short period of time or was preparing to expand before it went into production.

The Chinese market is Tesla's second largest market in the world. According to data, Tesla suffered a cumulative loss of more than US $1 billion in the first half of this year, but Tesla's sales in the Chinese market in the first half of this year were 1.469 billion yuan, an increase of 41.8% over the same period last year. Sales in the United States are US $5.809 billion, and domestic sales may increase in an all-round way after mass production at Tesla's Shanghai super factory.
