AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/23 Report--
Changan Mazda officially announced a recall today after car owners complained that the CX-5 suddenly stalled while driving and that the "flameout door" broke out in Mazda. More than 77000 CX-5 units need to be replaced with improved fuel pump cores.
Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. It is decided to recall a total of 77112 domestic second-generation CX-5 vehicles produced from August 8, 2017 to July 2, 2019, starting from November 22, 2019.
The vehicles within the scope of this recall due to the deformation of the pump wheel inside the fuel pump core and interference with the surrounding parts, resulting in the failure of the fuel pump function, unable to provide normal fuel to the engine. In extreme cases, the engine may flameout while the vehicle is running, and there is a safety hidden danger. Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace the improved fuel pump core for vehicles within the recall area free of charge to eliminate safety risks.
According to the statistics of the vehicle quality network, there are 47 complaints about the problems with the CX-5 fuel pump in Changan Mazda; at the same time, there are also a large number of complaints from car owners on the forum.
According to a forum on CX-5 in Mazda, a car owner in Wuhan, Hubei province, said that his CX-5 had stalled three times without warning. The owner said that the vehicle was carried by New Year's Day in 2019 and traveled 7000 kilometers to a place in Hunan on August 15. after driving about 30 kilometers up the mountain the next morning, the car suddenly stalled halfway up the hillside. fortunately, there were so many people who helped push the car to the side.
The owner said that because there was no local 4s store, he had to tow the vehicle to a 4s store in another city 300 kilometers away, and then the owner contacted the insurance company for rescue. Rescuers arrived four hours later, the first ignition still showed engine failure, and the second ignition vehicle could run normally again, so the rescue car followed behind and the owner drove down the hill by himself.
After going down the mountain, the maintenance personnel of the local 4S store came to the door and removed the test driving oil pump and replaced it with the faulty car. 4S store staff said that there were 4 similar cases in the local area recently.
The owner also said, "at one time, I thought it was just an isolated case, but recently, a number of riders have experienced the same failure one after another, all caused by fuel pump flameout, some on the complex second ring road of urban roads, and some on the first insurance." "like this car owner, there are still a lot of complaints in the forum.
Not only that, according to the relevant media, Mr. Tan, a Mazda CX-5 owner in Shenzhen, built a group because of the "flameout door", and the members of the group all had the same problem. Earlier, the group has expanded from 37 to 88, and the number is still expanding.
The sudden engine flameout is a major safety hazard during driving. After the problem was constantly exposed, Changan Mazda finally confirmed the recall and found the root cause of the problem, which is also a reasonable statement for more than 70,000 car owners.
