Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Municipal Administration, recalling a total of 77112 domestic second-generation CX-5 cars produced from August 8, 2017 to July 2, 2019, according to the official website of the State Administration of Market Supervision.

The reason for the recall is that the inner pump wheel of the fuel pump core of the vehicle is deformed and interferes with the surrounding parts, resulting in the failure of the fuel pump function and the inability to supply fuel to the engine normally. In extreme cases, there may also be abnormal engine flameout while the car is running, resulting in safety risks. Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace the improved fuel pump core for vehicles within the recall area free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

It is worth noting that Changan Automobile recalled Mazda CX-5 on June 12 last year, and this is the second time it has launched a recall.

According to the announcement of the State Municipal Administration, Changan Mazda filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on June 12 last year, planning to recall a total of 45600 Mazda CX-5 vehicles produced from May 30, 2016 to March 24, 2017.

The reason for the recall is due to supplier manufacturing reasons, steering gear heat treatment tempering is not sufficient, in long-term use and extreme cases may lead to steering gear damage, affect the direction of the vehicle handling, there are safety risks. Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace qualified steering gear assembly for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

According to statistics, Mazda CX-5 sold only 49600 vehicles in 2017, and the number of recalls is almost the number of sales for the whole year.

It is understood that Mazda sold 272300 vehicles in 2018, down 12% from the same period last year; the latest data show that Mazda sold 141100 vehicles in China from January to August this year, down 25.25% from the same period last year. Among them, FAW Mazda accumulated sales of 54000 vehicles, Changan Mazda accumulated sales of 87000 vehicles.

In March, Mazda announced a sales target of 270000 vehicles in 2019, but based on current sales, it completed only about 50 per cent of its annual sales from January to August.

Mazda's sales in China have been declining, but the firm trade value for sales has refused to cut prices. At present, it seems that things have backfired. In this year's increasingly difficult car market, if Mazda improves in all aspects, I am afraid this year will be another "sad" year.
