AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/24 Report--

In recent years, the frequent fire accidents of electric vehicles have attracted attention from all walks of life, and the topic of the safety of electric vehicles has also been pushed to the forefront of the waves. At around 9: 00 a. M. on September 23, a suspected Weimar EX5 electric car was burning on the road, and a video of the incident circulated among a group of Weima owners. In the picture you can see a red EX5 burning and black smoke billowing. At the same time, the driver's seat door opened and the driver had fled. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

The official Weibo of Weimar responded to the incident at 11:00 on September 23, confirming that the vehicle involved was Weima EX5, but made it clear that the battery pack of the vehicle did not catch fire or explode in the accident. The accident did not cause personal casualties or other property losses. The owner of the car was contacted as soon as the incident occurred and the staff were sent to the scene to deal with it. Weimar also said that the accident had nothing to do with spontaneous combustion. According to the owner's recollection, the armbox and seat in the car first began to smoke, and when the car opened the door to look for the fire extinguisher, the interior of the vehicle began to burn and spread, causing the vehicle to burn as a whole.

In August last year, Weimar Chengdu Research Institute had an EX5 test car that ignited spontaneously. Weimar officials later said the response was that the vehicle was test-loaded and scrapped after a large number of tests, but then an employee illegally electrified the vehicle, causing it to short-circuit and burn.
