AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/25 Report--
On September 23, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, starting from October 25, 2019, recall some imported BMW i3 pure electric vehicles produced between January 9, 2019 and February 21, 2019, totaling 45.
The reason for this recall is that the insufficient galvanization of the circuit board driving the motor control unit may lead to the failure of the motor control unit, resulting in the shutdown of high-voltage power and the loss of driving power of the vehicle in the process of driving, increasing the risk of accidents and causing safety risks.
BMW said it would replace qualified drive motor control units for vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate safety risks.
However, through combing, we know that so far this year, new energy vehicles have issued five recalls, including four brands, the recall number is 27600, it is worth noting that the BMW i3 is the only model recalled twice for basically the same reason.
It is understood that on May 27 this year, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. It is decided that from May 31, 2019, a total of 47 imported i3 pure electric and incremental electric vehicles produced between March 3, 2017 and January 31, 2018 will be recalled.
Due to the error in the production of the circuit board driving the motor control unit, the vehicle within the scope of this recall may lead to the failure of the motor control unit, resulting in power shutdown and loss of driving force in the driving process, increasing the risk of accidents and safety risks.
BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will replace qualified drive motor control units for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.
The BMW i3, BMW's first model in the pure streetcar sector, has so far sold more than 150000 vehicles, compared with 658 as of August 2019.
There were recent media reports that BMW would not update its i3 model and instead apply electric technology to other models, but Notta, BMW's sales and marketing director, said the i3 model would not stop production.
BMW Group Chairman Kruger said BMW will provide 25 electric models to the market by 2023, two years ahead of the previously announced completion date. BMW predicts that electric car sales will maintain a high growth rate between now and 2025, with an average annual growth rate of about 30%.
As an early luxury brand to start the electrification process, BMW launched the all-electric model BMW i3 in 2013, and now its cumulative sales have exceeded 150000. Following the BMW i3, BMW also plans to launch more electric models to cope with future market competition.
