The main body of Tesla factory has been completed. Stamping workshop, painting workshop and final assembly workshop already have production capacity and are expected to be put into production by the end of this year.

According to media reports, Tesla has produced a complete white-body Model 3 at the Shanghai super factory Gigafactory 3, and plans to start full production on October 14.

It was learned from the person in charge of Saint-Gobain Safety Glass, a supplier of Tesla glass, that the company's factory in Shanghai Lingang is to match the production demand of Tesla's Shanghai factory.

Saint-Gobain Safety Glass belongs to France Saint-Gobain Group, a Fortune 500 company in the world. At present, there are three factories in Shanghai, Qingdao and Wuhan in China, which produce 2 million sets of glass a year in China. Saint-Gobain Safety Glass has carried out the first phase of investment and construction in Lingang, and there will be additional investment in the later stage. The current investment in the first phase is 20 million yuan. According to Tesla's demand forecast, the company's annual output value is expected to be 120 million yuan.

Ma Jun, general manager of the operations of Saint-Gobain Safety Glass China Service Center, said that at present, the first phase of the company's products will be used in Tesla's Model 3 model, and the factory is under intense commissioning. The first piece of glass will be produced on October 10th, and Model Y may be matched in the future.

According to reports, Tesla factory from the start of construction to the body-in-white offline took a total of 8 months, once again reflecting the "Shanghai speed." The commissioning of Tesla's Shanghai super factory means it will be the first electric vehicle factory wholly owned by a foreign carmaker in China and Tesla's second electric vehicle production plant in the world.

According to the plan, Tesla Shanghai Super Factory will integrate R & D, manufacturing, sales and other functions, and is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 500000 pure electric vehicles after 2-3 years of construction. The vehicles will only be sold in China. Currently, only Model3 and Model Y models are available, while Model X and Model S as well as high-end Model3 and Model Y will still be manufactured in the United States and then exported to China.
