Maserati will officially start the era of electrification in 2020, involving electric cars, self-driving, new products and manufacturing. According to the plan, Maserati will have electric coverage of its models from 2020, and the first hybrid model will be an upgraded version of the Ghibli, which will provide low carbon emissions, pure electric mileage and L2 self-driving capability, which will become a strong competitor to the BMW 5-Series.
The first electric sports car is expected to be produced in Modena under the name of the 2014 concept car Alfieri, and the main production line at the Modena plant is being upgraded to match the production of the electric sports car.
In 2021, Maserati will launch a new SUV model, and in order to demonstrate that "innovative technology plays a leading role for the brand", the FCA Group will invest 800 million euros to build a new production line at the Casino plant to produce the model. The new production line will be launched in the first quarter of next year and the new car will be available in 2021.
In addition, Maserati will launch new Granturismo and Grancabrio models, and FCA will also invest 800 million euros in Turin to produce new cars. As Maserati's flagship products, GranTurismo and GranCabrio have been favored since their launch.
Although some specific models have not been confirmed in the latest release plan, in a product plan leaked last month, the new Levante and Quattroporte will be released in 2023. Their launch will officially announce the arrival of the era of fully electrified Maserati.
At the same time, Maserati will also upgrade existing models, including president cars, Levante SUV and Ghibli cars, to meet the diversified needs of consumers for mobile travel in the future.
It is understood that on November 29th, 2018, the FCA Group announced in Turin the Italian investment plan for 2019-2021 and announced that it would invest 5 billion euros in Italy by 2021 for electrification upgrading.
