Joseph Caban, chief designer of Rolls-Royce, left the ultra-luxury car company six months after taking office, according to US media reports.
Rolls-Royce CEO Tostan Muller Auttworth said that Caban left the company to "pursue other careers". Although Caban's working hours are very short, he is grateful for his contribution to the company. in addition, a replacement for Kaban will be found at an appropriate time.
It is understood that Kaban is the second designer to leave office in the past year or so. Kaban's former designer is Giles Taylor, who left Rolls-Royce in June 2018 and joined FAW Group in September 2018 as the design strategy of FAW Red Flag brand.
According to public sources, Caban graduated from the Royal Academy of Art and began his career as a designer at Volkswagen, designing the appearance of the Bugatti Veyron supercar; in 2003, he served as Audi's design assistant; in 2007, he was promoted to Audi's design director, and has designed appearances for Volkswagen Lupo, Seattle Arosa, Bugatti Veyron and Skoda Octavia. A year later, he took up the position of Skoda Design Director, reviving Skoda brand design. In February 2017, after leaving office, Kaban announced that he would join BMW Group as the brand design director of BMW.
Global sales of ultra-luxury brand Rolls-Royce reached 4107 vehicles in 2018, up 22.2% from a year earlier, according to data. Among them, the Chinese market grew by more than 40%, contributing 20% of Rolls-Royce's sales.
