AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)03/13 Report--

Toyota announced on the 12th that it will reach a cooperation with Japanese space exploration agency JAXA on future space exploration to jointly develop a manned pressurized lunar rover. Toyota claims that the pressurized lunar rover is full of air and astronauts can ride without wearing a spacesuit. The lunar rover will use fuel cell and electric vehicle technology and can travel more than 10,000 kilometers.

The previous Apollo program also had active battery-powered exploration vehicles, but because of its open design, astronauts had to wear spacesuits. It is not clear when the lunar rover, jointly developed by Toyota and JAXA, will be mass produced, so few details are known. JAXA said that the lunar surface exploration will be carried out in the five years from 2029 to 2034, with an effort to investigate five areas of the lunar surface. The astronauts will travel for 42 days at a time. Its cooperation with Toyota can generate collateral benefits.

According to Toyota's goal vision, the car is 6 meters long, 5.2 meters wide and 3.8 meters high, which can normally accommodate two people. It can accommodate 4 people in case of emergency. We all know that because there is almost no atmosphere on the lunar surface, there is a great temperature difference between the sunlit day and the unilluminated night, and the radiation can easily reach the lunar surface. The environment is very harsh. The developed lunar rover needs to have the technology to adapt to such a harsh environment and safely move to the lunar surface without leaking air. if the lunar rover filled with air inside can be successfully developed and can successfully drive on the lunar surface, this is undoubtedly a major scientific and technological achievement of milestone significance for the human lunar exploration project.
