It plans to increase the production of electric vehicles and hydrogen energy vehicles to 450000 vehicles by 2025. However, due to the fact that electric cars and hydrogen-powered vehicles do not need engines and gearboxes, as well as the promotion of electric modular production, the manpower required in the production process is expected to be greatly reduced.

The Hyundai Automobile Advisory Committee believes that in view of the fact that Europe and other developed countries have banned the sale of fuel vehicles and vigorously promoted new energy vehicles, the electrification of emerging markets, including China, is also gradually deepening, and for a long time in the future, the value of fuel vehicles will further decline, while Hyundai is still committed to the fuel vehicle market, making it face unprecedented challenges.

In response, the committee believes that Hyundai's production and assembly staff in South Korea will be reduced from 50000 to between 30000 and 40000 by 2025.

In recent years, with the changes in the automobile industry and the decline in the car market leading to a decline in sales, many car companies have laid off staff. Including Ford, Nissan, General Motors and other auto companies.

In order to avoid losses, Ford launched a large-scale "cost reduction and efficiency" program in the European market. Ford plans to cut 12000 jobs and close five plants in Europe by the end of next year. Nissan plans to cut more than 10,000 jobs worldwide, including early retirement, in order to adjust its production system to revive its performance. But Hyundai, by contrast, has proposed far more layoffs than the above two companies.

As for Hyundai Motor's proposal to produce 450000 new energy vehicles in 2025, the first production line dedicated to the production of electric vehicles is almost being set up, but it is still inconclusive in the current market environment whether it can achieve expectations.

Industry insiders said that compared with the production of internal combustion engine vehicles, new energy vehicles do not need engines and gearboxes, so the number of parts will be significantly lower, resulting in layoffs in order to reduce costs, but in the process, it will also cause protests from some employees, so it is more important to change the way of training than simple layoffs, so it is more important to change the way of training to let more people adapt to the development of new energy vehicles.
