At the Audi shareholders' meeting in May, Audi Chairman Bram Schot said looking to the future: Audi TT may be discontinued and will be replaced by a sports version of the electric car.

Although Audi TT's update iteration time is very long, almost every 8 years to change, but since the beginning of this year, the news that Audi TT is about to stop production has been continuous. Until May this year, Audi officials said it would not stop production but electrified it.

However, a few months later, there are foreign media reports that Audi's next-generation TT may be transformed into an electric SUV model, and may be named "eTTron". It means that the model, which is a symbol of the sports car, will also be discontinued and will only be able to appear as a SUV with the name TT.

The TT, one of Audi's latest iconic two-door sports cars over the past 20 years, is the only entry-level trot, and there will be no replacement if production is stopped.

Previously, Bram Schot also said that although the TT is built in electric form, it will still come up with solutions in order to make consumers continue to enjoy driving, just like Porsche Taycan, which is owned by Volkswagen, even if it is driven by electricity, it can still have pure driving fun, but the meaning of belonging to TT has changed.

It is understood that the eTTron will be based on the Volkswagen electric vehicle platform MEB platform, the body size will be more than Q3, the small body length of about 4.3m, the posture will also be lower, and in the interior will usher in a major change, replaced by a sense of technology, upgraded to the existing digital cockpit, eliminate physical keys, and the model will not directly interfere with the Audi SUV product line.

In terms of power, the entry-level model will use rear wheel drive, motor power of about 149kW (203Ps), and four-wheel drive, with a motor on the front and rear axles. The new model will offer batteries of three capacities, 45kWh, 58kWh and 78kWh, with mileage ranging from 322 to 547km depending on battery capacity.

Audi TT's cumulative global sales this year is only 12118 vehicles, which falls short of expectations, and its sports sedan market is also difficult to bring more revenue and needs to be cut. In fact, as Volkswagen CEO Dis plans, all unprofitable models or brands will be disposed of, leaving only competitive products, hoping to give the whole group a leading position in the future electrification development.
