As Toyota's domestic sales continue to heat up, and the increase of new energy models becomes a trend, Toyota will pay more attention to the Chinese market and plans to continue to expand domestic production scale. A few days ago, an announcement on the capacity expansion of Guangzhou Auto Toyota, owned by GAC GROUP, was obtained from relevant sources, which described the detailed planning of Guangzhou Auto Toyota's future plant.

According to the plan, GAC GROUP has passed the GAC Toyota new energy capacity expansion phase I and II projects and the Guangfeng TNGA engine construction project, this expansion is the fourth production line, adjacent to the third GAC Toyota plant, the total new capacity of the two phases of the expansion will reach 400000 vehicles per year, of which the first phase capacity will be 200000 vehicles, and will be completed and put into production in 2022, 40% of the capacity will be assigned to new energy vehicles (including PHEV and EV).

Last year, GAC Toyota completed terminal retail sales of more than 580000 vehicles, and the third production line was officially put into production in early 2018. GAC Toyota currently has three production lines, with a total annual production capacity of 600000 vehicles, but mainly fuel cars. if all the projects are completed, the annual production capacity will reach 1 million vehicles per year.

In addition, new energy products are planned for three pure electric vehicles. These include the C-HR electric version codenamed 711B, and two other models, an MPV electric car and an SUV electric car. The electric MPV wheelbase reaches 2850mm, the length is 4885, and the size is the same as the Camry; while the electric SUV wheelbase is 3060mm and the length is 5172mm, which is equivalent to the Lulai ES8; if you look at Toyota's global models, you can refer to MPV Esquire and SUV Sequoia.

At this year's Shanghai auto show, Guangzhou Auto Toyota launched a pure electric version of C-HR, and the new car added a "EV" logo on the left side of the front face to highlight the identity of the pure electric car, and replaced with whirlwind wheels to make the overall look more sporty. The power aspect has not yet been announced, and the mileage is expected to reach around 400km.

According to Toyota's plan, GAC Toyota, as the production base of Toyota's new energy vehicles exported to Asia, will speed up the layout of new energy vehicles. In order to meet China's strict quota system for the production of new energy vehicles, Toyota has accelerated the production of electric vehicles in China. So far, Toyota has sold more than 12 million hybrid vehicles worldwide and has mature electric vehicle technology.

Toyota has already announced plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles in China by the end of 2020. But for Toyota, which sells more than a million dollars in China, it is clear that the layout of new energy in China is a little slow.
