AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/21 Report--

Last month, UAW launched its biggest strike in the United States in 12 years after failing to reach an agreement with GM on labor contracts and other issues, costing GM hundreds of millions of dollars. Recently, UAW and General Motors agreed to study medicine, and the strike was temporarily suspended.

Wave after wave just flattened, wave after wave! According to media reports, as the contract between AB Volvo's Mctruck and UAW expired on October 1, the two sides negotiated the expiration of the contract. UAW proposed to Mctruck, including salary adjustment, shift insurance, holiday system, contingency insurance and other requirements, but did not reach an agreement with Mctruck. As a result, workers at Volvo's six factories went on strike on Oct. 12, including the Macungie plant in Pennsylvania and the engine and gearbox plant in Hagestown, Maryland, the first Mike truck strike in 35 years.

Volvo Motor Company has different views on the reasons for the breakdown of the negotiations.

John Smith, a spokesman for Volvo, said Mike truck had made substantive recommendations before the strike, including significant increases in employee pay and benefits, but could not reach an agreement. Martin Weisberg, president of Mctruck, said he was "surprised and disappointed by UAW's decision to strike".

The strike at UAW's Mike truck plant comes at a time when truckmakers are entering a downward phase of the production cycle. Volvo further said that if workers at the Mike plant continue to strike, it is bound to affect the production of Volvo trucks. In addition, the strike has halted production at Volvo's powertrain plant in Hagestown, resulting in temporary layoffs of about 3000 employees.

It is reported that UAW and AB Volvo's Mctruck Company will resume contract negotiations on October 21, and at least 3500 Volvo auto workers in three states are still on strike.
