C-IASI, a subsidiary of China Insurance Research Institute, today announced the results of the new car test, which was conducted by Geely Xingyue. According to the results published by C-IASI, the two test ratings of crash resistance and maintenance economy index and in-vehicle occupant safety index are A (good), while the two test ratings of out-of-vehicle occupant safety index and vehicle auxiliary safety index are G (excellent).

The crashworthiness and maintenance economy index rating is A, specifically, frontal collision score 17 points (out of 30 points), vehicle crashworthiness score 5 points (out of 6 points), vehicle maintenance economy score 12 points (out of 24 points). In rear-end collision, the score is 23 points (out of 30 points), structural crashworthiness is 6 points (out of 6 points), maintenance economy score is 24 points (out of 24 points), and weighted score is 19 points.

In all crash tests, the vehicle body safety is measured by the "Interior Occupant Safety Index", which includes frontal 25% offset crash, side crash, roof strength and seat/headrest.

In a frontal 25% offset crash, Star rated M (fair), which is less than satisfactory for Volvo Genetics, coming from the CMA platform architecture. It can be seen from the video that the star-crossing head almost collapsed, the left door deformed, and the A-pillar also bent, but the bending amplitude was not large. On the vehicle structure, the intrusion amount of the upper part of the passenger compartment is large, and the structural strength may be unreasonable.

In a side impact, the distance between the B-pillar and the centre line of the driver's seat is 17cm and the vehicle structural rating is G. In terms of protection, the driver's head movement protection, trunk, pelvis and leg protection are weakened, and the front dummy points are obviously deducted, resulting in a final rating of A (good). The rear passenger protection is good, and all indicators are rated G (excellent).

In the roof strength test, the star received a total evaluation of G excellent, in which the roof load mass ratio reached 5.10. In addition, Star Yue performed well in side collision and seat/headrest items, and finally scored G (excellent) in terms of passenger safety in the vehicle.

At present, the official guidance price of Geely Xingyue model is 1358 - 195,800 yuan. In this test, Geely selected Xingyue 2019 300T star dazzler, which belongs to Xingyue's lowest equipped model.

According to statistics, Geely brand SUV has produced Chinese brand SUV champion for April in a row. Surprisingly, the sales volume of Xingyue has steadily increased since its launch in May. After the sales volume exceeded 3000 units in July, the sales volume reached a new high in September, reaching 3270 units. The cumulative sales volume in more than 4 months since its launch has reached 12955 units, becoming the leader in hatchback sports SUV segment for two consecutive months.

In this test, Xingyue finally got the result of "two A two G". For a model of 135,800 yuan, it is not very good, but it is not very bad. The safety of Geely Star Yue is still worthy of affirmation, but from the specific data point of view, Star Yue still has a lot of shortcomings, of course, if the "vehicle occupant safety index" as a measure of vehicle safety main items, then can only say that its safety is not very safe.
