FAW-Volkswagen announced that the domestic Golf Pure Electric (e-Golf) and Bora Pure Electric (e-Bora) models will go on sale on October 29, with the official pre-sale price of 163700 yuan for Golf and 156800 yuan for Bora Pure Electric. There is no doubt that the new car is based on the gasoline version, and the biggest "bright spot" is that it has a range of only 270 kilometers.

A core of electric vehicles is range performance, while these two Volkswagen electric vehicles have a range of only 270 kilometers, which is about the level of domestic electric vehicles two years ago. compared with the new energy vehicle industry in 2019, it is no longer very competitive and the market position is also very awkward.

From the perspective of the new car, the appearance of the Golf Pure Electric continues the design of the imported e-Golf. The differences with the fuel version of the Golf 7 include the honeycomb front grille and headlights with blue elements, the new LED taillights, and the wheels with low air resistance rims and low rolling resistance tires. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4259 (4267) / 1799/1479mm, and the wheelbase is 2631mm.

The interior layout has not changed much, with a 12.3-inch full LCD dashboard and an 8-inch car central control screen.

The shape of the Bora Pure Electric can see an obvious difference, the front grille is denser and has the same color as the car body, the vents on both sides of the lower front are also changed, and the rest is consistent with the fuel version. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4663 (4671) / 1815/1473mm, and the wheelbase is 2680mm.

The interior design of Bora Pure Electric is basically the same as the fuel version, but the dashboard is still traditional pointer type, or based on cost considerations.

Both Golf Pure Electric and Bora Pure Electric are equipped with the same pure electric power system, driving motor with a maximum power of 100kW (136hp), peak torque of 290Nm, Ningde era ternary lithium battery with 37.2kWh capacity and NEDC mileage of 270km.

Electric vehicles with a range of more than 200 kilometers in the early days have been basically eliminated, and battery decay and discounts on battery life in winter are difficult to meet the daily needs of consumers. Individual users, taxis and ride-hailing markets prefer high-range electric cars and 270-kilometer Volkswagen cars, which may have little practical significance and play a greater role in meeting the new energy points requirements of enterprises.

Who will buy this car? In August this year, FAW-Volkswagen announced that the first batch of 50 Bora pure electricity (e-BORA) would be delivered to Qingdao Jimo District Government for use.
